Broke my eye glasses. Duh!!

Will be away till the 31st. No blogging for a week.

Just upgraded to the successor of B2, WordPress. Played around with the template a little, and this seems to be better (I can blog through email - yay!!). Some cleanup job is left for the comments section templates - will do them tomorrow.

Finally got Anaconda (the Redhat installer) to run in a Bangla locale env. (click on the image for a larger version).

Posted the release notes for the Live CD 1.0 to various mailing lists. Now I feel somewhat relieved. Took a look at the RH boot disk - I think I am understanding the boot process.

Xine works!!

Live CD v 1.0 release will tomorrow (if everything goes according to plan).

Now for dissecting the RH CDs.

Winter has come to Kolkata - yesterday it drizzled throughout the morning, and today, the sky is still overcast. Seems kind of strange - usually you don’t have this kind of “bleak” weather here. I slept till late in the morning - and finally woke up at 9:00.

Linux 2.6.0 was released today - and it seems to be chugging along fine in my box. I need to do some more testing in it before I do a permanent switch - maybe an Ankur Morph and ISO building session would help.

Xine is still giving troubles. Found out that it compiles with -mcpu=athlon in my AMD box. Did some foo bang with autoconf+configure.ac - and hopefully it should work now.


And if doesn’t - I’ll do really BAD things.

And someone is having troubles with an i815 video card - need to run chharpoka on that.

An article about Ankur was published in The Telegraph. And that one got subsequently slashdotted :-).

Live CD 1.0 (me calling it “Technology Preview”) was supposed to be released on Monday - but somehow, Totem failed to work on Indra-da’s laptop (it just exited - without any kind of errors) :-(. Anyway, I think it was a Xine issue (might have goofed up with the -mcpu/-march options while compiling). Updated some misc stuff in the LiveCD, and it now autoruns in Windoze boxes (opens a web browser with some instructions on how to use the CD.)

Did some updates to the Live CD. Added VNC (can have some fun and games with that;-)). Version 1 final should be put very soon.
