Proper Wordcount in OOo

Just noticed that OpenOffice.org finally got support for proper wordcount, i.e. you can get the stats for selections as well as for the entire document. Weeee….

    OO always had a proper word/character count!! It was under the file menu, unlike Abi where it’s under Tools!! But then I’m talking about version 1.1…. have no idea if it was there in 1.0!!

    Actually, a major gripe about the wordcount support of OOo was that it couldn’t get stats for selections - i.e., you couldn’t get the number of words in the sections that you highlighted.

    And the fun was OO.o forums suggested use of JEdit for completion of the task…For want of a nail and all that
