Tsunami Info…

I have been receiving emails (and phone calls) from people worried about the Tsunami. I would just like to let everyone know that I am fine - the Tsunami did not affect the place where I live. However, if you are interested in helping out the Tsunami victims - you can take a look at the SEA-EAT blog.

Merry Christmas!

Woke up in the morning and went to attend the early morning service at St Paul’s Cathedral. Whenever I go to St Paul’s, I am inevitably reminded of Geoffrey Moorhouse in Calcutta

“..and indeed, when you get inside Calcutta Cathedral, it would be possible to lose yourself in a reverie which persuaded you that you were medidating in some splendid wool church of the Cotswolds rather than an outpost of God’s Empire on the Tropic of Cancer. ”

Of course, then he goes on to say…

“One thing, however, soon dispels hallucination. For the wide white roof, with its moulded Tudor roses all shining with gilt, is partially obscured by the network of ironmongery necessary for the suspension of forty-six great fans one after the other above the choir and the nave; which has never been known to happen anywhere in the see of Gloucester.”

Anyway, I spent the rest of the day mostly listening to music and reading this.

Asia Source

Looks like I’ll be attending Asia Source in February….

GNOME Foundation elections

So, the preliminary results for this year’s elections have been announced. Vincent made the official announcements, while I made the announcements on IRC. Now we need to get a mechanism for anonymous voting in place, and also, an (semi)automated membership management system.

In other news, Planet FLOSS India has two new OOo hackers from Bangalore - welcome aboard!! In other FLOSS related news, noticed that Nokia is looking for GNOME developers. GNOME in my mobile ?? Wohooo!!

In Ankur Bangla related news, there was a really big article on Bangla Linux in The Statesman, with two large screenshots of GNOME 2.4.

..and finally, I won’t be around till the 23rd of December, so I won’t be responding to mails sent during this period.
