The charger for my E398 mobile phone had gone kaput almost a month ago, and today, I finally managed to track down a replacement charger. The shop overcharged me (Rs 250) - but I guess I had no option :-(.

In Free Software related news - I have been doing some R&D on adding Bangla affix support to the OOo spellchecker (Hunspell). There has been some progress, but my knowledge of Bangla grammar is terrible, so the rate of progress is extremely slow. I’ll try to put up some screenshots very soon. IDG also suggested that I look at adding a proper wiki based knowledgebase management system to GLPI. It should not be very difficult - but I guess I’ll be able to work on it only after my semester exams (which continue till the 14th of June). I leave for college tomorrow. I’ll be carrying my Reliance phone with me - so I won’t be totally cut off from everything, but I may not be able to respond to all the mails that are sent to me.

Also, today I suggested that the Bangla translations going into GNOME be split into bn_BD and bn_IN. That probably means that I will get involved in a flame war very soon ;-).

Today, I went to Golpark to get some of my photos printed - and while returning I decided to walk home. Instead of taking the normal route via Southern Avenue , I took the one that went along the banks of the Rabindra Sarobar Lake. It was around seven in the evening, and enticed by the cool breeze, I decided to sit for sometime on one of the benches beside the lake. While I was sitting, and watching the couples go by ;-), suddenly, there was a power cut and the whole area plunged into total darkness. The only sources of light within visible range were a large number of fireflies, flying around, making random patterns in the air. It was almost a magical atmosphere - I could barely see the silvery rippling water of the lake, and along with that were the golden fireflies, all around me. This continued for almost a quarter of an hour, and then, finally, the streetlights came alive once again, putting an end to what is perhaps the greatest light show I have ever witnessed.
