Exaile 0.2.9 released

In case you haven’t noticed, Exaile 0.2.9 is out, with a number of new features. You can grab it from the Releases page. Adam (Exaile’s lead developer) has also started a blog, check it out at www.vimtips.org.

The equalizer patch is now more or less feature complete (and a basic version of it is already in SVN). The latest patch at the Exaile trac implements the following features:

  • 10 band equalizer support
  • 17 builtin presets
  • Support for saving/deleting custom presets
  • Support for importing Winamp EQF files as custom presets (thanks to the XMMS devs for figuring out the format)

You will need gst-plugins-bad from CVS to have the equalizer feature activated. Feedback on the code/UI/features are welcome. Moreover, If there’s any other preset file format which I should consider supporting, please let me know.

    Still hate those lone ‘close buttons’ when there is the close button of the window frame…

    The Save and Delete button wouldn’t make any sense without a selected preset in the dropdown menu. The Import button on the other hand isn’t really bound to its current position in the UI.

    Why not put the import function at the bottom within the dropdown bar. So when you click you dropdown menu you could choose from all the presets or at the bottom choose to import a new one. Perhaps put some sort of separation between the import function and all the named presets.

    Kinda like in Firefoxs search bar (which on Ubuntu default is Google). By clicking on the Google logo a dropdown apears and you are able to choose another search engine or at the bottom add new ones with “Manage Search Engines…”

    About the Close button I agree that it takes up a lot unnecessary space… but I actually think I use the big lone close buttons when ever they exist, exactly because they are big… easier to hit than the small x in the provided by the window manager. Can’t really decide on this one :)

    Hm, how come the Import button have the GTK_STOCK_REVERT_TO_SAVED icon. What does the button do exactly? Import something (as the label say) or revert the saved state (as the icon say)?

    @Jacob
    The Save and Delete preset buttons gets disabled when the selected preset is a builtin one. The Firefox like dropdown idea is nice - I’ll try that out.

    @Andreas
    GTK_STOCK_REVERT_TO_SAVED is a stopgap measure - I will definitely use a better alternative image if someone draws me one. Or is there any GTK stock button for Import ? That button is used to import presets from Winamp EQF files.
